BT Connects - Small Group Initiative

BT Connects - Small Group Initiative are peer-led groups, whose participants come together around a shared interest on a regular basis with the understanding that Jewish tradition and deep personal relationships add meaning to our lives.

Small groups explore the intersection where Jewish wisdom
meets our daily lives and core interests.

For a better understanding of the small groups initiative, you can read an article by Rabbi Bethie Miller who helped train B'nai Torah Board Members with funding from the Federation for Jewish Philanthropy of Upper Fairfield County.

Each Small Group will:

  • Include 5-14 individuals
  • Form around a shared interest
  • Meet 6-8 times over the year [creating its own schedule], and then can choose to conclude or continue for the next year
  • Be facilitated by two peers and supported by a board member
  • Rabbi Colin can be consulted for Jewish texts/threads to use as part of the group.

Some notes about the registration process:

  • Please sign up for ONE group to allow for maximum commitment on your part and for maximum participation across the congregation.
  • Each person needs to register individually, so if you are planning to participate as a couple, sign up for two spots.
  • If you have an idea for a small group,  we really want to hear from you. Please email Co-President Amanda Wendt at presidents@bnaitorahct.org. Group formation is an ongoing process, so let's talk!
  • Small groups are not like typical classes that allow you to come and go whenever it fits with your schedule. Small groups commit to meeting together 6-8 times over the year, and need each person to help with the running of the group. We promise - it will be worth it!
