Leonard Cohen: Poet, Songwriter, Prophet

Who is Leonard Cohen? How did this man born into a middle class Jewish family in Montreal, grandson and great-grandson of rabbis and leaders of the Jewish community, become a world-renown poet and songwriter? How did his Jewish heritage form a basis for his identity and art throughout his life?

In the first part of this one-and-a-half hour session, you will hear about Leonard Cohen's life and view some video clips of Cohen speaking and performing. In the second part, we will listen to some of Cohen's songs and look at the lyrics, then discuss their meaning and significance. Let's explore together this great, contemporary Jewish artist and his work.

Please RSVP for this event.
